Liverpool’s Must-Visit Bars And Restaurants

The birthplace of the Beatles, the home to the current Premier League footballing champions, and one of the most promising up-and-coming investment spots in the UK at the moment, Liverpool is a city that has a lot going for it. Of course, Liverpool’s booming nightlife and electric atmosphere make it a more than viable northern alternative to London for those visiting the country, but it also has a stellar number of bars and restaurants. We’ve compiled a short guide, highlighting three of the best.

Matou

Liverpool’s famous Albert Dock is one of the best areas to visit in the city when coming over, and so if you’re looking for a restaurant that might give you some good views of the surrounding city, and that sits nicely on the dock, this might be the right choice. A pan Asian restaurant with a variety of delicious platters, Matou features stunning views over the docks, and even an outdoor terrace area looking out at the Liver Building, perfect for a drink on a sunny day.

Of course, there is also a range of other restaurants on the dock, some directly within the docks themselves, such as Smuggler’s Cove, a Pirate-themed bar and restaurant with a variety of different rum types.

The Baltic Market

We’ll admit that this one is a bit of a cheat option – given that it’s not specifically one restaurant but rather a collection of different restaurant pop-up counters under one roof – but who doesn’t love choice? The perfect spot to head to with indecisive friends for some food and drinks on a Friday night. The Baltic Market area has a bar area and a wide range of different food types that you can order on-the-fly, giving you a brilliant selection of some of the best tastes the city has to offer.

The Baltic Triangle area generally is one of the most exciting and thriving spots in Liverpool at the moment (and also in the UK more generally). Not only does it have an array of frequented bars and restaurants, but it also serves as a thriving hub for startups and digital businesses. It’s for this reason that it’s quickly becoming one of the most in-demand areas to live for young people and professionals wanting to capitalise on the melting pot of creativity and opportunity that it provides. With the demand for housing in this area continuing to rise, companies like RWinvest are continuing to provide property and investment opportunities in the area, and it will continue to become one of the must-visit sectors of Liverpool for tourists.

Down the Hatch

Veganism is surging in popularity in the UK, with the number of people living a vegan diet quadrupling between 2014 and 2019, it’s no surprise that plant-based meal substitutes and restaurants are becoming more commonplace in cities around the country. Down the Hatch, a vegan restaurant on Duke Street, is one of the highlights of Liverpool’s vegan scene, offering a variety of different burgers, hot dogs and more. There’s even a nice cocktail bar built-in to the restaurants, and the drinks are perhaps just as good as the food – the perfect combination.

For even faster food, Frost Burger is another restaurant just off of Bold Street that provides a delicious alternative for those that are vegan but still want their burger fix and want fries with that.
