This Year’s Beer Mile World Record Holder Was Disqualified for Not Drinking Enough Beer

Earlier this month, a man named Corey Bellemore did an unbelievable thing: He participated in the Beer Mile World Classic and broke a world record, completing the race in an astounding 4 minutes and 44 seconds. But this is not a happy story.

You see, the Beer Mile World Classic has strict rules to prevent just any schmuck with a beer gut and fondness for 12-packs from joining the pack. One of those rules is that each runner must completely chug four 12-ounce beers throughout the entire race, which is four laps around a track. Chug a beer, then do a lap, chug a beer, then do a lap, and onward. Bellemore, however, failed to drink enough beer. When officials checked, they found he’d left 4.5 ounces of beer behind, and his record-setting time was disqualified.

To add insult to injury, Bellemore’s record-beating time had beaten a record previously held by him of 4 minutes and 33 seconds, according to Runner’s World.
