Before we know it Spring has sprung and what better way to celebrate the start of a new season than with something light and bright? 

Following the success of their low-alcohol Sauvignon Blanc, Flat Roof Manor has decided to add another addition to their portfolio in the form of a Rosé. Made from 70% Pinotage and 30% Pinot Grigio grapes, the Flat Roof Manor Pinot Rosé Light has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of just 9%. As a result it contains 27% fewer kilojoules than the brand’s existing Pinot Rosé which it replaces.

So why did they reduce the alcohol this time around? According to winemaker Estelle Lourens the market has been  flooded with rosé wines and to stand out in such a crowd, you have to offer something special. They believe the Pinot Rosé Light does exactly that. It also distinguishes itself in that unlike many low-alcohol equivalents, it is full of character and flavour.

I find the wine extremely approachable with hints of candy-like flavours on the nose. What really impress me is the fact that the wine is not sweet, as most rosés tend to be. It’s also not watery, as one would expect from a low-in-alcohol wine. The Pinot Rosé Light is the type of wine that you can sip on from morning to night, which makes it perfect for a long boozy lunch or late night parties. Best part, it’s low in calories, so we can start working on our summer figures before spring starts to sprung!
