Celebrate Chocolate Eclair Day With These Choc Friendly Cocktails

It’s a real day, like Pinocchio is a real boy.

Some good folk in the US decided that the 22nd of June will forever be reserve to celebrate the existence of the little chocolate dipped pastry delight we call the Chocolate Eclair.

Allegedly created in the nineteenth century by the famous French chef, Antonin Carême, the Eclair makes for the perfect accompaniment to classic cocktails.

Old Fashioned

The revival of the Old Fashioned in the mid-nineteenth century may very well coincide with the creation of the Eclair, but the union of the two goes beyond simple timing. The spice and heat of the whisky, together with hints of orange from the garnish and bitters, add that extra layer of flavour to the creaminess of Eclair.

Espresso Martini

As a relatively new cocktail, the espresso martini has proved one of the most enduring. The “Wake me up, and then fuck me up.” cocktail will melt down ambitions faster then one can say Morning Glory. The predominant coffee flavour of the espresso martini compliments the dark chocolate while the vodka takes care of your summer body aspirations.

Brandy Alexander

If it worked for John Lennon, it will work for us. The Brandy Alexander is known to have been John Lennon‘s favourite drink. Lennon also loved confectioneries. Whispering Bob Harris, an English music presenter of BBC and co-founder of the listings magazine Time Out, revealed in his memoirs that Lennon once requested payment in the form of chocolate biscuits. This speaks volumes of Johns love for creamy things but also points out the obvious. Brandy Alexander and Chocolate Eclair should come together, right now.
