Creation is open!

Indeed! South African wine sales are no longer banned and we are so pleased that this period of prohibition is over. Hermanus is open as well! We have the most beautiful coastline and mountains and while the lockdown has not been good for business, I have had time to explore and rediscover the beauty of our region.

If you are living in South Africa, why not take some time out to visit our area and book the fantastic offers available at local guesthouses? Or hire a house for the weekend, the week, a month or stay forever … In fact, we’re secretly hoping some of our guests make their second homes their first homes from where they can work remotely. We have many recommendations, so please contact [email protected].

Creation is again open Monday to Sunday from 10h00 to 16h00. Please note that we have a reduced menu on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our breakfasts on the beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge are becoming increasingly popular, especially with cyclists and their families. We do a great lunch pairing using only the freshest local ingredients – simply order off our blackboard. And then there’s our ‘Afternoon Tea & MCC’ offering a scrumptious deli table. Please call to make a reservation on 028 212 1107 or contact us at [email protected].

We are of course also happy to cater for private functions in your home or at the workplace in the Hermanus and Cape Town areas. Please contact [email protected].

Last but not least is our tasting kits for those who cannot get to us. Our exciting Creation Alchemy Kit is available in South Africa while our innovative Creation Virtual Tasting Kit is available around the world. Join us in Tasting Together, Apart – in the comfort of your own home while sharing the experience with your friends, your colleagues or the members of your wine club. Please contact [email protected].

Creation Wines’ Carolyn & JC Martin on innovating to get through Covid-19

Finally after weeks of turmoil and damage across the South African drinks and wine industries, and all the retail and hospitality sectors they support, the government’s domestic ban on all alcohol sales has been lifted. For the last few months all those outside the country could do was show their support by promoting, buying, and in The Buyer’s case write and talk about South African wine.

Which is what this week’s video interview is all about and the chance to talk to Jean-Claude (JC) and Carolyn Martin, the charismatic and inspiring couple behind Creation Wines, who encapsulate the extraordinary efforts that producers have had to go to in order to keep innovating and selling their wines overseas, so that they could support their staff and local communities that rely on them for their livelihoods. In particular, they have shown the way forward with the number of virtual tastings and sampling packs they have created for their international markets. It’s why The Buyer today ‘Raises a Glass To’ them – and all South African wine producers at this time.
