Contemporary Cape Town cuisine has put De Grendel Restaurant on the global map as a Top 10 fine dining restaurant in South Africa and Africa – one of just 584 restaurants worldwide to achieve a 2019 Travellers’ Choice Award from TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site.
De Grendel Restaurant was named 3rd in the Travellers’ Choice Top 10 South African fine dining restaurants and was one of only four local fine dining establishments to make the Top 10 in Africa.
“We pride ourselves on delighting diners with creative flavour combinations that complement De Grendel wines, and creating an overall sensational experience of artfully presented, simple and tasty food in our relaxed, classic surroundings, with those spectacular views across Table Bay to Table Mountain.

Only about 1% of the more than 8-million hotels, restaurants, destinations, attractions and airlines listed on TripAdvisor receive a Traveller’s Choice award annually, the site’s highest honour, based on a year’s worth of reviews and ratings by 490-million users.
The restaurant has achieved a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence annually since 2016 – putting it in the top 10% of listings on the website – but this is its first Travellers’ Choice Award.
De Grendel Restaurant, on the De Grendel estate on the slopes of the Tygerberg in Cape Town, offers diners a selection of menus and wine pairing options, with the emphasis on local, seasonal produce in classic dishes served up with an inventive modern edge.
