Significantly, it was precisely 30 years ago that the cultivar was first planted at the winery in the Little Karoo.

Boplaas Family Vineyards has unveiled its maiden vintage Alvarinho. A South African specialist of Portuguese varieties, Boplaas planted the white wine grape at its Calitzdorp farm where the drier, warmer climate ensures top quality.

The 2023 title of South Africa’s Best Port Wine has been awarded by the National Wine Challenge to Boplaas Cape Tawny Colheita 2007.

 

The award-winning distillery at Boplaas celebrates a milestone in April with the launch of its first single malt whisky, a spirit of remarkable historic pedigree. With a distilling heritage that dates to 1880, Boplaas’s latest limited-edition release is arguably the first of its kind to emerge from the Karoo.
