Spice Route Wines is delighted to announce the release of their maiden vintage Spice Route Grenache 2012.

As harvest 2014 draws closer, we met with a cool, calm and collected Charl du Plessis – Spice Route Wines winemaker – and asked him to share his thoughts and predictions on this year’s harvest.

Date: 30 August 2013

Whilst, Fairview, situated in the Paarl District of the Cape Winelands, has monopolised the market for a number of years, The Spice Route (its neighbour and rather successful competitor) has enlivened the typical wine and cheese tasting of the past.

“As winter slowly creeps in and the exhilaration of harvest is nothing more than a distant memory, the really fun part starts – we get to taste the wines and monitor their progress.

If you’re wondering whether you should visit Spice Route Estate, the answer is yes, definitely.

SPICE Route is a wine brand that is associated with the west coast, but its new home is alongside the famous Fairview winery, on a hill with fantastic views of the valley and mountains.

Spice Route Chakalaka, translated from the Zulu word, meaning “all together”, is a fitting term for this award-winning wine from the Swartland.

The 2013 harvest kicked off on the 4th of February at our Spice Route winery in the Swartland.
