It would seem there is a bit of a lull in events post Vodacom Durban July. Here are the interesting things I’ve found, failing these you’ve always got your pick of the fabulous weekend markets like Shongweni and The Litchi Orchard to fall back on.
12Â July 2015 –Â The Colour Run – Running4Rare
The happiest 5km on the planet is back in Durban this weekend in conjunction with Running4Rare, an event that helps to raise funds for Rare Diseases South Africa.
The day is all about crazy colour and having fun while doing something awesome for someone with a rare disease. The course takes approximately 1 – 2 hours to complete, depending on whether you walk, run or roll your way to the finish line which is in the festival zone.
Once in the festival zone, you get to continue the colour madness and party with your fellow runners/walkers/rollers and enjoy music from some awesome DJs and local acts.
There will be food and drinks on sale, so bring some cash and get colourful!

12 July 2015 – Music at MakarangaÂ
This very popular music event is back and this time performers are Matthew Mole and Good Luck. Neither requires any kind of introduction to Durban audiences as both have solid and ever growing fan bases here. Matthew Mole will start the day off with his unique brand of folk rock and Good Luck will kick the festival up into high gear with their electro jazz high energy sound.
Robsons will provide craft beer and there will be a variety of food stalls offering up tasty treats.

The colourful event was hosted in Durban between 1979 and 1994 and some years ago the city once again stepped up to host this incredible spectacle of military displays, mass pipes and drums corps as well as drum majorette squads who never fail to amaze with their precise and rhythmic performances.
