Move over Sauvignon Blanc, here comes Grüner Veltliner

Hats off to Diemersdal dynamo Thys Louw who has batted for years making Sauvignon Blanc in Durbanville. On his first time out with Austrian favourite Grüner Veltliner, he strikes gold and a Wine of the Week recommendation from Olly Smith in the pages of the Daily Mail which wraps up many a fish and chips supper in the UK.

So should Durbanville forget about Sancerre and rather go Viennese? Why ever not. This “dazzling pure and refreshing” drop from Thys is much better with Wiener Schnitzel than those pyrazine pyrotechnical power potations favoured by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs of the Sauvignon Blanc Interest Group plus the dastardly Hermit on the Pill and his chiskop chommie.
