City Press jumped the gun yesterday by presenting a sparkling wine which is not an MCC to their 2 million readers. This should send the bald eagle and other self-appointed MoMs (masters of MCC) into a death spiral at the 12 Apostles on Wednesday when the Amorim top bubblies are revealed. The big mistake made by bubbly producers is that most folk don’t give a fig about the process used to make the bubble. It’s taste, packaging and price that matter. Just look at Cava which is making all the running in London these days.

Perhaps its time for Amorim to rethink their sponsorship of an essentially elitist sideshow of SA wine. After all, if one of the largest retailers in SA is pointedly left off the guest list, is shifting stock important at all? Perhaps not to the basket of deplorablesTM who have hijacked SA wine for their own narcisistic ends.
