South African Sauvignon Blanc and White Blend Awarded Best in the World

Decanter judged four South African wines to be the best in the world at this year’s Decanter World Wine Awards.

David Nieuwoudt’s Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc 2012 was awarded The Best Sauvignon Blanc (over £15) in the world, while Cape Point’s Isliedh 2012 scooped up the Best Overall White Blend.

Paul Cluver also received a trophy for their Gewürztraminer 2012 (Best Dry Aromatic Wine under £15) and Boschendal kept the red flag flying with the best overall Red Rhône varietal under £15, for their Reserve Collection Syrah 2011.

Spain and Chile produced four winners each, while Australia haul of six international trophies with New Zealand producers taking three trophies.

France, which last year claimed six trophies, could only manage three this time around.
