Wine of The Month Pairings: Jean Le Long MCC

At Boschendal we are very proud to be one of the pioneers of Méthode Cap Classique. In fact, we were the second South African wine estate to produce an MCC – our first was bottled in the 1980s. Jean le Long Prestige Cuvée Vintage is the stunning result of four decades of refinement. In fact, Michael Oliver called it “most perfect example of this Champagne style.”

This full-bodied bubbly is also the perfect food partner as the air grows crisper and the autumn leaves flutter to the ground.

Named after the man who founded Boschendal 333 years ago, the Jean le Long is a testament to the fact that quality craftsmanship cannot be rushed. It spends five years maturing on the lees before being bottled and matured for a further ten. The result is a fine flourish of fizz, with complex citrus flavours and a delightful depth – making it a delightful accompaniment to rich seafoods like seared scallops, grilled lobster and seafood risotto. And be sure to place a few bottles of Jean de Long on ice if you are picnicking with friends on terrines, ham and aged hard cheeses.

The MCC also has absolutely beautiful packaging so be sure to place your ice bucket front and centre in your dinner party décor!
