The well known sommelier Michael Chan scored the Boplaas Touriga Naçional Reserve 2012 4 ½ stars (out of 5) and the Boplaas Touriga Francesca Reserve 2012 4 stars. Michael Chan stated on Instagram that the Touriga is the best he has tasted in SA.

Boplaas Family Vineyards in Calitzdorp, well known for producing world class Cape Ports, made the first Tinta Barocca red wine as far back as 1982, and still specialises in table wines made from Portuguese cultivars. The Boplaas Gamka 2012 (Touriga/Shiraz) flagship red wine was awarded a double gold at Michelangelo last year and the Boplaas Tinta Chocolat (Tinta Barocca) 2010 a gold medal.
