The 2015 Vitis Vinifera Awards competition awarded Backsberg with nine Gold Medals and one Double gold Medal.

According to the Vinifera Awards, the 2015 Vitis Vinifera Awards saw a big surge in the amount of entries from the previous year, and they are very pleased with the spectrum of quality wines entered into this year`s competition. The Cape Wine Academy handled the massive logistics to ensure smooth running and an exciting double blind tasting on September 4th. The goodwill experienced from every sector showed that this competition will be a benchmark to consider in years to come.
