New look Hartenberg labels: Wines that deserve to be in your glass

“Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.” John D. Rockerfeller

The new look Hartenberg Doorkeeper Shiraz and Sauvignon Blanc labels now showcase the unique and historic cellar door handle, lock and key far more prominently than before. The real life elements, which are featured on the label, were handmade when the underground cellar was built, and are unique to Hartenberg Wine Estate.

The Doorkeeper Shiraz 2013, which symbolizes the brand’s entry into the world of Shiraz, is a younger, more modern and upfront example of the Shiraz wines for which Hartenberg is so renowned. The fruit is all estate grown and includes grapes from younger vineyards. The wine has perfumed aromas with spicy notes yet is gentle and medium bodied with soft sweet tannins. It complements game, lamb and beef dishes across the board.

Grapes for the Sauvignon Blanc 2015 are hand picked over a period, ensuring that each bunch of grapes is perfectly ripe at the time of picking. Gentle treatment in the cellar ensures that this straw coloured wine with a slight green edge is grassy with tropical fruit and white flower aromas. On the palate it begins clean and vibrant, with mid palate weight and fullness, and finishes long and creamy. It is perfectly at home on a summer afternoon or evening and pairs beautifully with goats cheese or fish and supports lime, coriander, garlic and gentle chili flavours in these and chicken or vegetable dishes. Best served chilled.

Available in most outlets and from the farm at R80 (Sauvignon Blanc) and R70 (Shiraz), respectively.
