The tasting centre, situated next to the magnificent Cape Dutch manor house, will also be open for wine sales, where you can relax in the comfy tasting room which dates back to 1823.

Buy and take home a loaf of real, home-baked farm bread made in the old-fashioned way with flour ground by the original historic water mill, which is still in working order and is now situated just outside the entrance to the wine cellar. Plaisir de Merle has a true French pedigree and a long winemaking tradition dating back over 300 years when the Huguenot family Marais sailed from Le Plessis Marly in France and settled on the farm which was granted to them in 1693.  It is one of the largest wine farms in the Cape with one of the most stunning settings.
