Love Bombed by WOSA

I’ll be the first to admit that WOSA are good sports. First they invite me to Cape Wine 2015 and now they follow me on Twitter. Although I’m dying to know who Latinoboy_racha is. Either Ricky Martin or their representative in Rio, or both.

So I’ll return the compliment and help out with food at CW2015, wine seemingly under control by sommeliers at large.

A list of WOSA-approved restaurants on Bree Street may come in useful for attendees. For perhaps the biggest failing of Cape Wine 2012 (after the reusable stands made from banana leaves) was the lack of food. Su Birch and Andre would take their entourages off for a smash-up lunch at Bistrot Bizerka and leave everyone else to fend for themselves.

Well Bizerka has now relocated to Heritage Square which is perhaps a little too far for the sacred cows of UK wine to walk in their Pradas – best send them off to La Parada in an Uber. Chef’s Warehouse was favourably reviewed in the Pink ‘Un by Mr. Jancis Robinson so that will suit some. But you can’t book, which may be an issue for outsize egos.

Bocca is owned by a sommelier and there’s a biergarten on Bree, too. Remember Su’s finest hour serving beer and biltong at the London Wine Trade Fair? But my pick would be Orinoco and True Italic. Or perhaps hire Die Wors-Rol of Bertus Basson and take SA wine for another ride.
