WellsFaber Sommelier Selection Rosés

Sommelier Tongai Joseph Dhafana of La Colombe fame is a one man WOSA. If he’s not on CNBC, he’s in the pages of City Press preaching the Gospel of Gastronomy. WOSA should let up on the Marie munching and take lessons on how to market wine to Africa. Distell, largest liquor producer on the continent, have even fashioned an Africa Division out of the amorphous “International.” We are fortunate to have him on our WellsFaber Sommelier Selection panel which this morning turned its taste buds to rosés.

The Somms’ top six are

Hidden Treasure 2015 from Hidden Valley
First Sighting 2015
Allee Bleu Starlette 2015
Delheim 2016
Rosie D 2014 from Doran Family Vineyards
Maria Saudade, a vinho verde from Portugal

Joseph is posing with Maria Saudade (above) our first foreign wine to make the cut. Hidden Treasure, our Black Magic favourite, hails from the Helderberg, from the farm which is home to Overture, the award winning restaurant of Bertus Basson. So Bertus does not have to travel far to source stock. Handy that.

All the wines tasted will be available at a public tasting this afternoon at The Pendock @ Taj. Why not come on down for a taste of la vie en rose?
