Waverley Hills Starts The Year With A Gold From Mundus Vini Biofach 2019

Last year Waverley Hills boasted with various awards.  From the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Award where the Grenache 2017 walked away with the Trophy for Top Scoring Organic Wine, to the well-known Rhone-style blend, the SMV 2013 that made the whole team proud by receiving the Trophy for Best Organic Wine in the World at the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).  You could thus say that 2018 ended well.

This year started just as well though as one of our premium wines, the CW Reserve Shiraz 2015 received a Gold from Mundus Vini Biofach 2019.

The Mundus Vini Biofach Grand International Organic Wine Award is held in Germany and is an international competition that is open for all the wine-growing regions around the world.  It is a great honor to receive an award as an international jury is used to guarantee fair and professional judging of the wines.

The team is proud of the CW Reserve Shiraz 2015 for doing so well.  Named after the original owner of the estate, Christo Wilfred, this wine was made to be extra special and so only 225L New French Oak was used in the aging of this 100% Shiraz.  Aromas of concentrated white spice, fresh pomegranate and fynbos (garrique) are rounded off by herbal notes and the smoky flavours of the French Oak.  However, on the palate the wine has a soft and smooth entry and a long, fresh finish with integrated oak flavours.
