Cork Popping Celebrations at Benguela Cove

It’s been a very rewarding year for Benguela Cove so we are certainly popping a few corks today.

Following the Veritas Awards, the Estate Chardonnay 2017 and Vinography Chardonnay 2017 also scored 91 and 90 points at WineMag’s Prescient Chardonnay Report.

Johann is an excellent winemaker. It takes perseverance to understand what a certain terroir can give you, and then the skill to take its fruit and interpret the vintage to the best of your ability. We are a cool climate estate that delivers wine with finesse and restraint that the consumer palate is slowly but surely learning to understand and appreciate. The consumer is now venturing beyond a certain price point and exploring the value of wines with character and personality. Exceptional wines tell stories and something exceptional result from true investment and dedication. But the end of the day, nature has the final say.

The Benguela Cove Cabernet Sauvignon won the trophy at the 2019 SA Young Wine Show and The 7th annual Tim Atkin report mirrored this success with four Benguela Cove wines scooping 90+ points. The Benguela Cove Catalina Semillon 2018 (not released yet) followed in the success of its maiden vintage 2017 and scored 94 points. The Bordeaux Blend, Collage 2017, scored 91 points, a consistent achiever above 90. The artisan range, Vinography, was awarded 90 points for its Chardonnay 2018 and 93 points for its Sauvignon Blanc, both due to be released in April 2020. Both the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2017 Chardonnay was awarded Gold at the 2019 Veritas Awards.
