Memorable Wines From Mature Vines At Creation

“As Creation’s vines get older, so the quality of the Pinot Noirs they produce continues to increase,” says Tim Atkin MW in his latest (2020) South Africa Special Report. And it is not only the Creation Pinot Noir that he rates highly.

In his report no less than ten Creation wines qualify for a Medal of Excellence, which means a score of 90+. Three of these wines also qualify for a Gold Medal: the 2019 Art of Creation Pinot Noir at 97 points, the 2019 Art of Creation Chardonnay at 96 points and the 2019 Emma’s Pinot Noir at 95 points. To put Creation’s achievement into perspective: of the 1,328 wines tasted only 150 qualify for the coveted Gold Medal.

A British Master of Wine, Tim is a distinguished wine journalist and an expert on South African wines. His report, now in its eighth edition, is widely regarded as one of the most authoritative overviews of quality South African wines. In an introduction to his 2020 report Tim says: “Against formidable odds, South Africa is making some of the greatest wines in its history.” Creation owners Jean-Claude (JC) and Carolyn Martin applaud this view with Carolyn saying: “We truly value Tim’s opinion and encouragement, especially considering the aftermath of the Covid-19 ban on wine sales.”
