Boris, Burgundy and the take away lasagna

What is the attraction of take away lasagna, I wonder? When Dear Angela, one of the most ancient visualizers on Platter, the sighted wine label guide, underrated the wines of Eagles Nest in Constantia, she blamed it on the take away lasagna from Woolies she tasted them with.

Now the news is out from Rachel Johnson, sister to mayor of London Boris, that Boris made his decision to back Brexit last Saturday after a frozen lasagna and a bottle of Burgundy. As she writes in the Daily Mail today “we came in and rescued the lasagne (sic). He grabbed a bottle of Burgundy from the side to wash it down, even though I said it wouldn’t be clever to ‘drunk text Dave’ – but we only had a glass each, officer.”

How ironic that a bottle of the best French red and an iconic Italian dish played a part in convincing Boris to ditch Europe. But what a marketing opportunity for SA Pinot producers and for Woolies take away dinners.
