That’s right, wine lovers. Publik Wine Bar will be operating a tasting room and event space at the new Salt Cellar urban winery in Salt River, Cape Town.

 

It was a night unlike any other. Macarons grew on trees, bread was served with custom-carved butter sculptures and five hundred guests watched as South Africa’s brand new Top 10 restaurants were announced, along with the winners of a host of other awards.

 

The catch phrases ‘sustainable’, ‘green’ and ‘organic’ are often bandied about, especially when it comes to food and wine.

 

Last night, at a glittering awards ceremony held at the Rotunda at the Bay Hotel, we announced the winners of the 2011 Eat Out DStv Food Network Restaurant Awards and the prestigious Top 10 restaurants.

 

While the thought of an ice-cold glass of Cabernet Sauvignon on a balmy summer’s evening might not be an attractive one to most wine drinkers, perhaps it’s time to reconsider.
