Doing the Culinary Highways and Byways of Europe

Always in search of new flavour adventures and intriguing combinations, Creation’s Carolyn Martin and Daniela Messina recently took to the culinary highways and byways of Europe once more. This time to Tallinn, Wroclaw, Tønsberg, Brummen, Haarlem, London, Chilworth and Marazion.   What follows is an abridged version of their inspirational journey.

Wednesday, 27 March – Tallinn, Estonia

What motivated our visit to this fascinating restaurant-lounge in the heart of Tallinn’s medieval Old Town is the fact that we had the pleasure of hosting its owners, Kadi-Liis and Tarmo Tamm, at Creation earlier this year. They loved our wines and invited us to put our pairing skills to the test when next we’re in their part of the world. Always up for a challenge, Bollywood was top of our itinerary once we’d arrived in Tallinn. And what a treat! The aromatic Asian-style cuisine is skillfully prepared and thoughtfully put together and we particularly loved the Kerala fish curry of red snapper with fried rice – an extraordinary combination of layered flavours and textures offering lightness and intensity at the same time. The wonderfully aromatic yet crisp Creation Viognier was the perfect match and the pairing was in one word, sublime!
